Mother's Day Wall Art

It's time to start figuring out what you are going to get your mom for Mother's Day!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! I was sick with a teething baby, so my weekend was less than perfect. Oh well! Anyway, in my blog and pinterest searches I realized that Mother's Day is sooo close!!! I decided that I would dedicate the next couple of weeks to Mother's Day Ideas and Prints.

I found in a Linky Party from Funky Junk Interiors this super cute canvas flower print from Creative Passage.

My problem is that I have been much of a scrap booker. I see something cute like this and wonder I how I can do it on my computer :) I guess that is the graphic design side of me coming through.

Off I went to the computer and started creating my own little twist to this wall art.

Here is what I came up with. I added a link for you to download. I think this would be an adorable piece of art to give to your mom, or yourself...hehehe for Mother's Day.

The Square Stitch to support military

This is such a fun bracelet to make.
When my husband was deployed I decided that I wanted to wear something to remind me of him. I always had this dog tag, but I wanted a bracelet.
I was looking at some digital camouflage that my husband left behind and I was immediately inspired to make a matching bracelet!

I went to my local bead store called Heart Bead Jewelry and learned how to make this using the Square Stitch. For those of you who don't have a store near you that teach you this stitch, I found this excellent video on how to make this stitch.

Spruce up the sink and stove

I have white tile above the sink and stove. I decided that this was too boring for me. I spend a lot time cooking in front of those two areas. I should have something pretty to look at.
I found this cute idea and off I went to the local thrift store.

I found two picture with these awesome frames for $2 each!
Then I bought four glasses to use as vases (two for each frame).

Since I am dealing with tile and I wanted to easily take these down I decided to use 3M sticky strips
to hang the frame.
I used hot glue to mount the vases to the wall.

This was such a cheap project that I couldn't go wrong even if I decided I didn't like it any more. I think I only spend $5 all together :)
Of course it helped that I had some flowers that I was already drying.
Just a tip: Don't put water in the vases. They are too hard to clean since they are mounted to the wall.
I like fake and dried plants.

The Lost Picture

One of the most frustrating things about Pinterest is when you click on an image because you want to buy it or learn how to make it and you either get a Oops error code or the link just takes you to something like Flickr.
It's so frustrating!

Well, thanks to google we can try to solve that problem. Of course we are not going to find everything that we are looking for, but this sure does help!
Google Images searches the internet for your picture and then gives you options on where to find the file! Too Cool!

Motivational Quote

I'm enjoying this quote today. I think it goes well with my desire to exercise and get healthy.
I found this quote on http://mybellavita.tumblr.com/ and then re-designed it myself. :)

Here is Friday, April 13 2012

I used this design for a cute little note tag for presents. Who needs an actual card these days to go along with the present? Not Me!  :)
Put a bunch of these onto 1 page, print, cut out in squares and then get out that fancy circle/scallop punch and punch away! Don't forget to make a hole at the top for some ribbon!

Pencil Vase

My Mom is a high school teacher and so this vase just called out to me. I found it on Pinterest from http://sooqueeugosto.tumblr.com/page/4
I spent about $10 on it!
I went to the thrift store, in case Deseret Industries and bought the vase $1.50. Then I went to the Dollar store and bought 2 boxes of pencils - just in case I messed up, I want to have some spares. Next I went to Roberts Arts and Crafts to buy the flowers and ribbon. I really enjoyed going there because they were going out of business. I got everything 1/2 off!

DIY Belt Handband

In an effort to de-clutter my house I found some old belts. This one in particular was really cute, but didn't fit anymore. I got it in high school at American Eagle. For some reason I just didn't want to let go. :) I started playing with it, thinking that there has to be something else I can do with this belt.
Out came the head band!

I tried just strapping it around my head, but soon found that it loosened up or started falling off.
I grabbed a pair scissors, a hair band and went off to my friends house - who owns a sewing machine.

Chaffing Sports Bra Straps

I bought a sports bra about 5 months ago. It has adjustable straps on it. When I work out the end of the straps rub my skin raw. It doesn't hurt too bad. It's annoying more than anything.
In my exploration of finding ways to fix this I finally found something that works for me!
For those of you who are thinking : Why don't you just buy another bra? My answer is that, I just bought this one, I'm on a budget, and it's hard to find good bras in my size :)

So here it goes...I wrapped Panty-liners around the straps! I know, it's funny, but it works. The sticky parts keeps hold so it doesn't slide around like the other options that I have tried do.
Just peel off and throw away when you are done with your workout.
